Dear participants, potential participants and arbitrators we would like to draw your attention that the 2016 Official Rules of the ICC Lex Mercatoria International Commercial Arbitration Moot have minor changes.

Below there are excerpts from the final and Official version of the Rules.

Para. 2.1. of the Rules.

In order to participate in the Competition a Team is required to:

  1. Complete the registration form on the official web-site of the Russian and (or) English Section of the Competition;
  2. Pay the registration fee;
  3. Submit the Memoranda for the Claimant and Respondent.

Para. 2.2. of the Rules.

The deadline for completing the registration form is 16 October, 2016. The deadline for paying the registration fee (300 Euro) is 21 October, 2016.

Para. 2.4. of the Rules.

The Teams may represent the law school/law faculty or other higher education institutions that include law, as part of their program.

The number of Teams that may represent each participating law school/law faculty or other higher education institutions is not limited.

Para. 2.5. of the Rules.

LL.B., LL.M., PhD students, as well as students pursuing related law degrees may take part in the Competition. The Teams may include former participants.

Para. 2.7. of the Rules.

A Team may be composed of two (2) to four (4) Team Members. The number of Team Coaches is not limited.

Para. 2.10. of the Rules.

The procedure for the payment of the registration fee is established on the official web-site of the Russian and English Chapters of the Competition respectively.

Para. 2.11. of the Rules.

The registration fee covers an invitation to the Opening Ceremony & Conference on 25 November, 2016, to the Awards Ceremony on 28 November, 2016 and to all other official events for all the Team Members and Coaches.

Para. 2.12. of the Rules.

The registration fee does not cover accommodation in Minsk, transfer costs and meals, as well as visa application fee. The registration fee is non-refundable.

Para. 3.6. of the Rules.

The Clarifications will be released after 26 September, 2016.

Para. 4.3. of the Rules.

The Teams should submit Memorandum for Claimant on 16 October, 2016 and Memorandum for Respondent on 17 November, 2016 no later than 23:00 +0000 UTC at each respective date.

Following Para. 8.14. of the Rules.

Evaluation of Memoranda does not influence the outcome of the Oral Rounds and the overall result of a Team.

Memoranda are evaluated merely for purposes of the Best Memorandum for Claimant and the Best Memorandum for Respondent Awards (para. 7.8. (2-3)).
